The video sharing company YouTube is about to give a brand new look to its app. According to YouTube, this new look will appear more modern and will give immersive viewing experience to its users. Along with that, new look will also improve how users will view videos.
Moreover, the video sharing giant is also bringing the much awaited feature called pinch-to-zoom for both Android and iOS phones.
“YouTube just celebrated its 17th birthday earlier this year and we wondered if it was time to give it a small makeover”, the company wrote in a blog post.
“With pinch to zoom, you can now easily zoom in and out of a video while on your iOS or Android phone. And when you let go, the video stays zoomed in so you can enjoy the rest of the video in greater detail. Give your fingers a rest!,” the company added.
As per company, effort is being applied in order to make watch page easier for the eyes. Firstly, links present in the description of a video will transform to buttons. Another thing is that frequent actions such as Like, share as well as download will be changed to reduce distractions.
In addition to that subscribe button will also change, such as new shape and it will not be in red color. Instead it will be in grey colour. Also, it will be easier to find on both channel pages and watch pages.
Ambient Mode:
“Colour was a key theme for us during the development phase. We wanted to add vibrancy to our apps without detracting from viewers’ habits, whether that’s enjoying their recommended videos or browsing for new content. After tinkering with several ideas, ambient mode came to life. And when the first design concept was met with ‘overwhelmingly’ positive reactions from users during testing, we knew we were onto something,” the company added.
When talking about the new ambient mode it will provide subtle effect and will use dynamic color sampling. This will match the app background to the playing video. Furthermore, the ambient mode will be available for both mobile users and YouTube web users in dark theme.
