The Firms Uber and Nuro has done a 10-year commercial deal in which the Uber will deliver meals and other goods to its Eats customers with the help of Nuro autonomous delivery vehicles. As per the companies, this partnership will begin in Houston and Mountain View, California, United States and later will expand to other areas including the greater Bay Area.
The company Nuro has managed to do partnerships with the number of high-profile companies in the past few years. The names include Walmart and Kroger. Furthermore, this recent deal will mark rapid increase in the Nuro’s commercial plans.
It also marks its attractive position in the growing industry of autonomous vehicle. The firm Nuro has got all the necessary approvals and permits to work in the autonomous vehicle delivery service. And it can and will charge the customers in the California. One thing is to note that there are only few firms including Nuro that has got all approvals and permits.
This further implies that it will receive a fee for every autonomous delivery made for the Uber Eats. Also, Uber Eats customers will be charged the same for delivery made but it will not matter whether the delivery is made by the Nuro Bot or a human worker.
But one thing is to note that it will save some amount of money as the bots cannot accept tips. Moreover, at the time of order customers will not know whether they will be getting their own delivery or whether it is a courier delivery.
Even if the Eats customer selects the tip option before then after the delivery made by Nuro Bot that tip will get refunded. Also, in the first year of the partnership will help both the firms to find out and decide best uses of these bots.
