iPhone series phones are considered as biggest competitor to the android smartphones by many people. And for the first time, android has lost its position in the US marketplace. According to the data, it is clear that exactly half of the smartphones users in the US are iPhones users now. It may be a reason of worry for the Android OEMs, but there will be a straightforward solution to it.
As per Counterpoint Research data (via Financial Times) suggests that Apple has gained its highest market share of the smartphone field in the US in the June month of this year. iPhones account for about 50 percent of the active phones in the United States, whereas on the other hand around 150 other devices make up the rest of the user base.
Moreover, according to the research firm it says that the scales gradually tipped in favour of Apple company in the past four years. It is also quite possible that a similar change could be followed in the other wealthy countries as well.
When talking about the most popular Android manufacturer in the US, then one can find the name of Samsung company. Still if we believe the researchers then the Samsung as well as other Android OEMs have to level up the game, such that similar situation will not arise in other marketplaces, where the sales of the Android are not driven by the relative affordability.
Also, the sales that were recorded in the North America during the second quarter of this year indicates that Google’s Pixel line gets enormous growth in the smartphone segment. But still, the similar data also unveils that the top five selling devices by volume were none other than all iPhone models.
The iPhone came into the existence in the year 2007 followed by the Android Platform a year later. The Android overtook the iOS’s installed user base in 2010 and has maintained the lead till today. The software support for the longer period of time in Android phones will increase the life of the phones and may help the Android OEMs to tackle the current situation.
