Google’s Bay View campus is now open for its employees. The company has revealed initial plans about the campus way back in the year 2013. And almost after 10 years its now open. This is the first Google campus that is made by the company itself. Furthermore, it also does not look like traditional offices which you can think of.
After viewing the top view aerial photo of the campus, you can notice that it is different and looks like dragonscales. This distinctive design is created by 90,000 silver solar panels. Moreover, these solar panels can generate almost seven megawatts of energy. This amount of electricity can fulfil about 40% of the offices’ energy needs.
Not only this, but this campus has wind farms also to supply office energy requirements. The office has two kitchens in it, but instead of gas equipment they are equipped with electric one. Moreover, the ventilation system of the campus uses 100 percent of outside air. Also, it has automated window shades for letting in lot of natural light during the daytime.
Furthermore, this Bay View campus is found 42 acres next to NASA’s Ames research centre in mountain view. It will have about 4,000 employees who are working on Google’s ad product. The campus also has largest geothermal installations in North America. This will help to heat and cool the campus without the need of any fossil fuels.
Google is mainly focused on flexibility because many of the employees are returning from couple of years of remote work during the pandemic. What you have to say about the Google’s brand-new all electric campus? Mention in the comments.
