Apple’s AirTag is a fabulous tool if you want to track your pets or your belongings. As we all know, it depends on us that how we use particular technology that is for either good or bad reasons. Apart from positive uses, this tool is being misused for many number of times for stealing cars and stalking people.
Now, the cases have surfaced about AirTag that it falsely notifies people about getting stalked. A women reported about Apple AirTag ,saying that the tool told her that she was being tracked. But in reality, she found that none of that was happening with her.
Main point to note here is that AirTag comes with anti-stalking features. This feature is being designed as such that it notifies people when other person tracks their movements. The main purpose to roll out this feature was to discourage tracking people without their permission.
According to the new report of Wall Street Journal now unveils that Apple’s AirTag is sending phantom alerts to the people. As per the report, the alerts were sent mostly at the night-time. This leaves the people in a panic situation.
What happens is, when an AirTag which you do not own is found along with your movements, then you will get a notification from the Find My app that an AirTag is found moving with you. This also goes when you put your friend’s AirTag in your bag. Definitely, you will be notified about it.
The Wall Street Journal report revealed when a woman with her daughter were leaving the Disneyland then at that time Find My app let them know that they were being tracked using an AirTag.
In reality the alert was false, but this scared them a lot as after they got the notification, they searched every bag and pocket. And ultimately, they did not find any AirTag device. A similar type of incident happened to a 25-year-old marketer who lives in Indianapolis and his name is McClain.
He got the notification that he was being tracked. ” It was a shock in my morning” he said. He also told WSJ” I thought, ‘Who would want to stalk me? Who would want to hurt me?”. This type of situation happened to many people; they got the notifications about getting tracked. And when they started looking out for such thing, they found nothing.
