What is Google Bard?

In simple words, Google Bard AI is nothing but a generative Artificial Intelligence. Also, generative AI is a generic name given to those kind of AI models that can create or generate new content. Other examples of generative AI are ChatGPT and DALL-E. You might be thinking that what kind of content does generative AI can create? So, in simple words answer to this question is that it can create or generate audios, videos, images to name a few.

Just Like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Bard AI is also an Artificial Intelligence based Chatbot. And one can ask questions from Bard AI, and it will generate responses as per the questions. And all this process will work in a conversational manner. You may feel that you are chatting next to someone on the internet.

Another question you may have related to Bard AI that is it available to everyone on the globe? So, the answer is yes, it is open to over 180 countries and territories. Features of Google Bard AI:

Google Bard Will Read Images:

In future this AI chatbot will be capable of reading images and will be able to give response to the user prompts. Also, the feature of reading images in Bard will be made possible with the help of Google Lens. It is also possible that Google Lens feature may be directly integrated into this AI Chatbot.

If do not know what Google Lens is? Let me tell you that it is an image recognition technology developed by the Google. This will further enhance the capabilities of Bard AI with respect to reading images and answering of image related prompts.

Google has illustrated this feature by inputting an image which contains two dogs (you can refer image below) and asked the Bard AI to write funny caption about those two dogs. The response was generated within few seconds and the AI chatbot provided some creative captions. The other use cases of this feature were not demonstrated by Google.

Powered By PaLM 2:



When Bard AI was released then at that time it was powered by LaMDA. When talking about LaMDA, it is one of the Large Language Models of Google. Now according to Google, this AI chatbot is now powered by PaLM 2.

In addition to that, PaLM 2 is the next-generation language model developed by Google. Moreover, it is relatively new Large Language Model. Also, PaLM 2 is faster than previous models, this will further enhance Bard AI and will make it capable of generating faster responses.

Image Generator in Bard AI:

At the time of writing this article, Bard is not able to generate images. But soon in near future, it will become capable of generating AI arts from the user prompts. This feature in Bard AI chatbot will become possible with the help of Adobe Firefly.

Coming to Adobe Firefly, it is a family of creative generative AI models. Also, it is capable of creating high quality images with ease. And the Google is integrating this Firefly’s model with Bard to make this AI chatbot able to generate AI images. Moreover, those AI generated images can be further edited as per the user requirements.

Visual Responses:

Bard is now able to generate textual responses with the appropriate images from the internet. This feature is similar to the Microsoft Bing AI chat in which it gives responses with images. Furthermore, in Bard, both text and visuals are shown in the chat itself. But if you want to go to the source of image, you can do so by clicking on the link provided on the image. Also, this feature will also appear in the Google search as a new Generative AI feature.

Language Support:

OpenAI’s GPT-4 Large Language Model supports over 26 languages at the moment. Also, as per the announcement done by Google, Bard AI will soon be able to support more than 40 languages. So, this will put Bard one step ahead from GPT-4.

Google Bard AI can Code:

In Google I/O 2023, Google revealed that Bard AI will get features related to programming. As of now, this feature is available in Bard AI. This AI Chatbot is now able to generate, debug as well as explain code easily. Furthermore, in the generated code citations will also be present for double-checking purposes.

Also, if the user is satisfied with the generated code, he/she can further export those codes and can use it on Google Collab or on Replit. It is capable of supporting more than 20 programming languages. Like C, C++, Dart, Kotlin, HTML/CSS to name a few.



Export Bard Chats:

At this point of time, you already know that you can export codes straight from Bard AI. Moreover, Google has also added a feature in this chatbot to export chats to other services like Gmail and Google Docs.

Also, the option of exporting chats will be applicable to every message inside Bard AI. And as per the company the presence of such options in the chatbot will simplify workflows leading to make the whole AI output process faster.

Dark Mode:



Google Bard AI is available in the dark mode. This feature may appear very small but still it is a useful feature. The dark mode in this AI Chatbot contains a combination of black and grey used in such a manner that it has enhanced the look and feel of the interface. In case if you want to switch to dark mode, its switch is available in the bottom left of the sidebar.

Multiple Drafts:

In ChatGPT, the best possible response to a prompt is generated and does not generate multiple drafts . Whereas on the other hand Bard AI generates multiple response drafts for the provided prompt.
